FAQs

What does Humatica do?

Humatica is a specialist consultancy focused on improving the organizational performance and management processes of private equity-backed portfolio companies.

We are involved both pre-deal and post deal, as we provide our private equity sponsors with insights on how their target / portfolio company operates, their organizational bottlenecks and effective actions to deliver on the goals they have set through their value creation plan.

Our projects are grounded in “fact-based transparency” which is possible thanks to the support of our own proprietary tools: Humatica’s tools involve big-data benchmarks to evaluate the critical behaviors and management practices that drive value creation for all stakeholders. By blending the expertise of our consulting teams and the datapoints collected through the use of our tools, we are able to deliver concrete analysis and solutions to help companies and private equity sponsors achieve their targets.

Improved organizations and management processes typically means that the people who work in these organizations have the right platform and are in the right position to make and execute the right decisions better and faster than the competition, and thus accelerate profitability and revenue growth.

The benefits of organizational effectiveness vary in shape and form. Example of benefits can be improved revenue and profitability through and improved sales process, or through an improved product prioritization process and go-to-market strategy, or through making and internal process more efficient and allocating the time that is saved to more innovation and sales; benefits can also be a cost reduction, either through a better process to negotiate with suppliers, or through rightsizing – or even cost prevention, through better collaboration between teams that may increase awareness about important requirements and thus meet this deadlines and requirements without failure. And of course, there are intangible benefits, which may even be more important, such as engaged employees, low churn rates and prevention of critical knowledge loss.

“Deliver Alpha” is a term used to indicate the ability of a fund to generate higher returns on investment than the industry benchmark. Humatica assists business leaders and private equity sponsors in achieving superior returns thus delivering Alpha.

We typically work in small teams of around four to five people. This allows us to have a hands-on approach where every member of the team will contribute to the project from beginning to end.

Our project length can vary; however, a typical project will last between 6 to 8 weeks allowing you to gain insights and in-depth knowledge of a specific project type or industry, and meaning you have the opportunity to undertake numerous successive projects, giving you an all-rounded consulting experience.

Being aligned with the client is also an integral part of our consulting method: you will be given frequent opportunities to interact and collaborate both with the private equity sponsor (i.e. the “owner” of the client) and with the portfolio (i.e. the “client”). This can sometimes mean on-site visits, management interviews, workshops – all of which translate to direct involvement with the client.

Overall, due to the varied structure of our consulting projects, the fast-paced environment of the project landscape, and a culture that values strong collaboration and individual growth, projects at Humatica are perfect for people who are curious to absorb knowledge from all industries, who are eager to interact and exchange ideas with people from the most different backgrounds, and who are excited to be part of a team.

As an Analyst you will support teams primarily by conducting research and data analysis essential to team’s formulation of hypotheses and recommendations. You will also be tasked with communicating your findings to the team and client, both verbally and in written form.

Due to the structure of our teams and the flat hierarchy that is at the heart of our culture, your role will expand beyond analytical tasks and will involve a variety of skills, allowing you to develop an all-rounded profile and touch all facets of the consulting process. From day one you will be involved in all aspects of the project; your voice and opinions will be valued as you will be asked to participate in hypothesis generation, data gathering and interpretation, preparing client meetings, participating in client workshops and many more creative applications of your analytical skills.

This is why other than having strong analytical skills and being structured thinkers, we are looking for people that are great communicators, that have a genuine interest in business and have entrepreneurial drive and curiosity.

Also, as our client base is international, we ideally look for people that are fluent in other languages, preferably German, Italian, French, Spanish, Swedish or Dutch.

Your first week as a new joiner will be dedicated to onboarding activities, supported by your own ‘Buddy’ who will help you settle in. You will collaborate with people across different roles and international teams who will guide you through the skills, knowledge, and processes we employ here at Humatica. You will also be required to complete some “hard skills” trainings to consolidate your analytical toolkit and build the foundations you will need to be successful in your role.

Your training does not stop here; our culture is one that deeply values perpetual learning and self-development. You will be given a “mentor” who will guide you in the day-to-day as they will help you navigate your own personal goals through continuous formal and informal feedback sessions, as well as guiding you throughout your journey at Humatica, as you grow into new roles, responsibilities, and challenges. Other than the mentorship scheme, guidance and growth are fostered by the way we work at Humatica: your access to senior members of the leadership team and to a general culture of coaching and collaboration will give you exposure to all kinds of methodologies and viewpoints thus helping you grow as you overcome new and exciting challenges.

Everyone at Humatica is interested in your personal and professional wellbeing and will be happy to help you throughout your journey as you become an integral part of the team. This is why a lot of the learning is done through a hands-on approach; you will develop your most invaluable skills by working on projects. To complement our guided hands-on learning approach, we also offer structured skill-development opportunities, both in-house, with internally led training opportunities, as well as external workshops with professional and highly reputable training providers.

Overall curiosity and willingness to learn go a long way; at Humatica you will be given the tools and opportunities to develop your skillsets, to challenge yourself every day and to grow faster than you could ever imagine.

Humatica has a flat, family, collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, built on strong foundations of trust and transparency.

As we operate in small project teams, you have the chance to work closely with people at all levels, and often collaborate with people from different offices, gain international exposure and build strong relationships.

Entrepreneurship is also part of our DNA: our team members are always interested in innovating and contributing to the development of Humatica’s tools, expertise, and practices. You will be learning as much as you will be contributing to driving Humatica forward.

Humatica’s culture is also fostered by moments where our team comes together an interacts in a more relaxed setting. We host several team dinners and events, including the bi-annual offsite that will enable you to get to know the rest of the team including our international Partners. The more you will remain with us the more you will be able to benefit from Humatica’s culture: from specialized trainings, to flexible work, to sabbaticals, Humaticans all benefit from an open and flexible, yet professional, demanding and rewarding work environment.

At Humatica the work-life balance is highly valued. As in any consulting role, there will be periods of high intensity, but this is balanced by times when you will work more regular hours, including downtime periods dedicated to self-development, training, and internal project work. These opportunities will allow you to develop your all-rounded skillset while working on internal projects, strengthen your consulting skills and apply the learnings when faced with client work again.

We also have a culture of hybrid-working in all of our locations.   We love to see you in the office on a regular basis but there is also flexibility to work from home, or another remote location, when that makes more sense for you, as long as you are aligned with your project team and project manager.

Humatica is headquartered in Zurich. Our London office is located in the lively area of Oxford Circus right by Carnaby street. We have also recently opened an office in the heart of Munich, right by the magnificent Odeonsplatz square. Humatica has a presence in Singapore too.

We work across all industries predominantly in Europe, but also in North America and Asia Pacific, with long-established offices in London and Zurich and now newly expanding to both Munich and Singapore. Our client base is therefore spread out across the world and projects can involve travelling to client sites when required.

Applicants are encouraged to apply to our openings in any of our offices. Business-fluent German language skills are however compulsory for applications for our Munich office.

Humatica will sponsor visas for full time hires in the UK if required.

Our recruiting process includes an initial screening of your CV and cover letter followed by four recruiting stages. Initially you will sit an online test which will evaluate your quantitative skills, mathematical knowledge, and logical thinking. Following the tests there are three different interview rounds made up of a combination of case studies and interpersonal interviews. During this process you will be able to meet many members of our team across all levels, gaining a flavor of what it would be like to work at Humatica.

It is in our interest to see you perform at your best so make sure you prepare in advance and practice. There are numerous resources online to help you prepare case studies. Also do your research and ask us questions in the interview! Understanding what Humatica does and how you could fit in the team is key to making a good impression in the interpersonal interview. Finally, interviewing with us will be a chance for you to get to know us as much as it is for us to get to know you. Keep in mind that we want to see you succeed and perform at your best, so relax and enjoy the process!

Whilst our experienced hire applicants do not need to do any online tests, we do ask them to complete a few rounds of interpersonal interviews and at least one case study which is appropriate to their level.

As a result of the coaching, regular feedback and fast-track learning, you can expect to progress quickly at Humatica.   You will receive formal feedback after every project and we have bi-annual performance reviews, meaning there are many opportunities to move to the next level. Promotions are decided on merit only, and not simply time in grade, so when you are ready this will be recognized!
